JoinATL is an Atlanta-dedicated project connecting residents to in-person clubs, groups, and gatherings. We maintain a curated directory and aim to host in-person events for club organizers to connect. We also hope to launch public club fairs soon! We were inspired by many initiatives, but most closely aligned to JoinPhilly. s/o to Brian + the team at JP. Our mission: support & grow the social and civic culture in Atlanta.
Anyone looking for IRL connections — you're new to the city, feeling disconnected, or just looking for something to do with other humans w/ shared interests! We're also looking to build a network for club organizers / founders. It's hard and important work, and we want to support you!
A club is any group that meets in person on a recurring basis to share a purpose, interest, or topic. It could be a cycling group, a craft club, a roller derby practice, or a co-learning cohort. Here's how we differentiate a club vs. event: A club meets regularly with the same core group building connections and community e.g. quarterly fairs run by volunteers, monthly book clubs, weekly crafts clubs. An event happens once or occasionally with different people each time e.g. workshop, popup, or monthly series put on by the local pub.
Listings are free for grassroots and volunteer/community-led clubs. Anyone can reach out to us without a specific affiliation to share and highlight a club! If you are associated with a brand or institution, we do ask for a small fee ($35) to keep the platform free and accessible to others.
We're a grassroots initiative founded and led by independent ATL residents (we ourselves are club organizers!)
For sure! We partner with local institutions, venues, and civic groups. Reach out to discuss ideas. Reach out to us at joinatl@protonmail.com!
We're looking to host joinATL club fairs and events (to highlight the incredible slate of clubs in our city), provide an ecosystem for club founders & organizers (shared efforts/costs to support the work it takes to manage clubs!) + highlight stories of civic, social life in ATL. Also totally open to any ideas/suggestions you have in what we can do to build and grow the social and civic culture!
We would love more passionate citizens to help run events. You can offer your skills: event planning, outreach, social media, photo/videography, etc. You can also share your network, space, or audience co-create events, neighborhood projects, or bring your work into our ecosystem—and help us bring ours into yours. You can also support financially or with in-kind donations. Reach out to us at joinatl@protonmail.com
